What You Need To Know To Price Your Artwork

Attempting to put a price on your work is one of the hardest tasks there is. To do it properly, you have to remove your emotions about your creation and view it solely as a commercial product. You must then assess objectively how it compares with other similar art, consider why they should cost more than some and less than others along with what your clients can afford, and ultimately come up with a pricing structure.

Before you settle on a number, you need to understand all of the costs you will incur so that you ultimately profit from the sale. It's possible that some artists in the market have their own reproduction equipment, or have supplier agreements that allow them to sell work at a price that you not be able to.

Understanding your costs:

This may be obvious, but you need to know the cost to create or reproduce your work. Don't underestimate your time for the time you spend doing this you are taking time away from other important processes. If you are doing the reproduction yourself, it's simply the cost of the materials and your time, which you should base on an humble per hourly rate, in order to create the artwork.

If you decide to subcontract the reproduction of your work; use the cost they are charging you to do this. It's important that you ensure that their quality is up to your standard as it will be a reflection of your work. While you should price around to get the best deal, cost is not always the most important factor as the partnering company should to be responsive to your needs.

Also, don't forget about shipping costs, sales tax, and credit card processing fees. If you do not understand the cost structure around these fees in your transactions, your total margin will be significantly cut.

Recapturing Operational Expenses:

Try to build in some amount to recapture expenses for the initial creation of the artwork, and help cover other operational expenses (i.e. advertising, web site hosting, photography equipment, film). Coming up with this number will be a best guess that will evolve over time as you get a better handle of your expenses.

Profit Margin:

This is what you'll ultimately make on each sale. Each person needs to decide for themselves what their price strategy should be. You may want to consider, for example, setting lower price points thus making more money by moving more of your product. The alternative is to price your work higher and make more per unit. It is somewhat of a fine line, as you do not want to instill in the mind of collectors that your work is not of great value. However you want to keep your prices high enough so that you reinforce the value of your work to the collector base.

Ford Sets Forth Its Safety Recall

Ford Motor Company in connection with its endeavor to promote safety and protection among its vehicle users has announced that it will enhance its 2005 speed control. Said safety recall will include certain speed control-equipped gas or natural gas 1994-2002 F-250 through F-550 F-Super Duty trucks, 2000-2002 Excursions, 1994-1996 Econoline vans and 1996-2002 E-450 vans, as well as speed control-equipped 1998 Mountaineers and Explorers. According to the automaker about 1.2 million of these vehicles are presently used in the United States.

"Today's action includes those vehicles that were identified as having a interaction issue between the speed control deactivation switch and the brake system that could, in rare cases, cause the switch to overheat and ultimately catch fire," said Ray Nevi, assistant director, Ford Automotive Safety Office.

During the previous year, Ford conducted a recall of about 5 million vehicles to affix fused wiring harness to the speed control deactivation switch. This was done to get rid of the probable risk of fire if the switch leaked. Said harness stops electrical current caused by the leak.

"Following last year's recall, we indicated further analysis would continue to determine what vehicle characteristics were contributing to the potential for switch leakage. After a year of intensive research, including working with NHTSA's engineers, we have concluded that certain factors on the affected vehicles may lead to the switch overheating," Nevi added.

Leakage may be caused by overheating. Failure may also be a result of repeated high vacuum events. Moreover, to solve the potential predicament facing vehicle users, the automaker has prepared sufficient supply of Excursion Ford parts wholesale, Ford Econoline Van parts, Ford F350 Super Duty pickup parts and more parts to cater to other mentioned vehicles.

The upcoming safety recall includes orientation of the switch on the brake master cylinder and frequent high vacuum events at the switch because of the typical brake system operation.

Glossary Of Terms (M - R) - CCTV

MAGNIFICATION RATIO
The ratio between the focal length of a lens and the focal length of a standard angle lens. Indicates the magnification of the image when compared to an image from a standard angle lens.

MANUAL IRIS
Type of lens that requires manual focusing.

MATRIX SWITCHER
Advanced type of switcher in which a signal from any input can be switched to any number or combination of outputs. Generally used in larger and more complex systems the matrix will usually also incorporate a range of additional advanced features.

MICROWAVE TRANSMISSION
A method of transmitting signals using a microwave frequency link. Not affected by adverse weather but requires direct line of site. A licence may be required to operate a microwave frequency system.

MODEM
Derived from the term Modulate-Demodulate. A modem is used to convert between analogue and digital signal to then transmit and receive the signals over the PSTN network.

MOIR PATTERN
An unwanted effect that appears in the video picture when a high frequency pattern is looked at with a CCD camera that has a pixel pattern close (but lower) to the object pattern.

MULTIPLEX VIDEO RECORDING
The condensed recording of more than one video signal on a single videotape, or hard disk drive.

MULTIPLEX
The concept of transmitting several signals on a single channel.

MULTIPLEXER
A device that combines a number of signals into one. Often used in CCTV to describe a device that is primarily used to multiplex several video signals into one for the purposes of recording or microwave transmission. It can also refer to a fibre optics multiplexer which combines a number of video signals into one in order to transmit all of them via a single fibre cable.

N/C AND N/O ALARMS
Refers to Normally Closed and Normally Opened contacts. It is usually used to describe alarms in CCTV.

NA
Numerical Aperture. A measure of the angular acceptance of light incoming into a fibre optics cable, in the form of a cone. It is expressed as the square root of the difference of the squares of the indices of the core and the cladding.

NBS
National Bureau of Standards (USA).

ND FILTERS
Neutral Density filters are optical filters that attenuate the light a number of times. This attenuation is equal for all the wavelengths therefore it does not change the colour balance of an image, hence the term neutral.

NIT
A photometric unit for measuring luminance. One nit is equal to one candela per square metre of a projected surface area.

NOISE
An unwanted signal produced by all electrical circuits working above the absolute zero. Noise cannot be eliminated but only minimised.

NTSC

PHOTOPIC VISION
The range of light intensities, from 105 lux down to nearly 10-2 lux, detectable by the human eye.

PINHOLE LENS
A fixed focal length lens, for viewing through a very small aperture, used in discrete surveillance situations. The lens normally has no focusing control but offers a choice of iris functions.

PIXEL
Derived from picture element. Usually refers to the CCD chip unit picture cell. It consists of a photo sensor plus its associated control gates.

PLUMBICON
Thermionic vacuum tube developed by Philips, using a lead oxide photoconductive layer. It represented the ultimate imaging device up to the introduction of CCD chips.

POLARISING FILTER
An optical filter that transmits light in only one direction (perpendicular to the light path), out of 360 possible. The effect is such that it can eliminate some unwanted bright areas or reflections, such as when looking through a glass window. In photography, polarising filters are used very often to darken a blue sky.

POTS
Plain Old Telephone Service, ie. the telephone service in common use throughout the world today. Also known as PSTN.

PRESET POSITIONING
A function of a pan and tilt unit, including the zoom lens, where a number of certain viewing positions can be stored in the systems memory (usually this is in the PTZ site driver) and recalled when required, either upon an alarm trigger, programmed or manual recall.

PRINCIPLE POINT
An optical term that refers to one of the two points that each lens has along the optical axis. The principle point closer to the imaging device (CCD chip in our case) is used as a reference point when measuring the focal length of a lens.

PSTN
Public Switched Telephone Network usually refers to the "plain old telephone" service. Also known as POTS.

PTZ SITE DRIVER
(PTZ site receiver, or decoder). An electronic device, usually a part of a video matrix switcher, which receives digital, encoded control signals in order to operate pan, tilt, zoom and focus functions.

QUAD COMPRESSOR
(Also split screen unit). Equipment which simultaneously displays parts or more than one image on a single monitor. It usually refers to four quadrants display.

RAID
Redundant Arrays of Independent Disks. This a technology of connecting a number of hard drives into one mass storage device, which can be used, among other things, for digital recording of video images.

RAM
Random Access Memory. An electronic chip, usually known as "memory", holding digital information while there is power applied to it. Its capacity is measured in kilobytes.

RANDOM INTERLACE
A term describing a camera that has a free running horizontal sync as opposed to a 2:1 interlace type which has the sync locked and therefore has both fields in a frame interlocked together accurately.

REMOTE CONTROL
A transmission and receiving of signals for controlling remote devices such as pan and tilt units, lens functions, wash and wipe control and similar.

RETMA
Former name of the EIA association. Some older video test charts carry the name "RETMA Chart".

RF SIGNAL
Radio frequency signal that belongs to the region up to 300GHz.

RG-11
A video coaxial cable with 75 Ohms impedance and much thicker diameter than the popular RG-59 (of approximately 12 mm). With RG-11 much longer distances can be achieved (at least twice the RG-59), but it is more expensive and harder to work with.

RG-58
A coaxial cable designed with 50 Ohms impedance, therefore not suitable for CCTV. Very similar to RG-59, only slightly thinner.

RG-59
A type of coaxial cable that is most common in use in small to medium size CCTV systems. It is designed with an impedance of 75 Ohms. It has an outer diameter of around 6 mm and it is a good compromise between maximum distances achievable (up to 300 m for monochrome signal, and 250 m for colour) and good transmission.

RMS
An abbreviation for Root Mean Square. All AC voltages are measured with multimeters that show the RMS value of the signal (not the peaks). For a sine wave signal such as the mains, the RMS value happens to be 1.41 times (square root of 2) below the peak values.

ROM
Read Only Memory. An electronic chip, containing digital information that does not disappear when power is turned off.

RS-232
A format of digital communication where only two wires are required. It is also known as a serial data communication. The RS-232 standard defines a scheme for asynchronous communications, but it does not define how the data should be represented by the bits, ie. it does not define the overall message format and protocol. It is very often used in CCTV communications between keyboards and matrix switchers, or between matrix switchers and PTZ site drivers. The advantage of RS-232 over others is in its simplicity and use of only two wires.

RS-422
This is an advanced format of digital communication when compared to RS-232. The basic difference is in the need for four wires instead of two as the communications is not single-ended as with RS-232, but differential. In simple terms, the signal transmitted is "read" at the receiving end as the difference between the two wires without common earth. So if there is noise induced along the line, it will be cancelled out. The RS-422 can drive lines of over a kilometre in length and distribute data to up to 10 receivers.

RS-485
This is an advanced format of digital communications compared to RS-422. The major improvement is in the number of receivers that can be driven with this format, and this is up to 32.

Understand Web Browser Hijacking And How To Correct It

Digital and video Cameras,scanners,mp3 players, and just about every other electronic device are designed to be connected to your computer.

And all new computers make it simple to connect these devices with the use of the USB or Universal Serial Bus port. But with the many devices you may have, you can still run short of these ports.

If you find your computer using all of its USB ports, you can get your hands on a USB Hub.This hub contains several usb ports. So rather than unplugging one device to plug in another,a usb hub allows you to connect multiple devices.

To setup a usb hub on your computer you need to be sure your system allow you to connect the hub.If your computer was made before 1997 it most likely won't support a USB.

Check your computer to see if there is a usb port available. http://www.ultimatepcrepair.com/photos.html have photos showing what USB ports look like and where they should be found in any computer.

You should consider the reason you want to purchase a USB hub. This will help in deciding the type of usb hub you want to purchase. And research the device you want to connect, as not all devices can be connected to USB hubs.

The two types of USB hubs are the Self Powered which draws power from an external power supply and the bus powered hub which is inserted in an expansion slot and draws power from the motherboard.

Some devices that use large amounts of power work poorly with bus powered hubs.A scanner for example, will wotk much better connected to a self powered USB hub.

When connecting a device to the USB hub,see what version of usb it may be.USB 1.0 was the first version released and today the fast version is the usb 2.0 All USB 2.0 hubs are backward compatible. This allows them to run the slower USB 1.0 devices.

The price of a hub 2.0 hub varies from about $25.00 to $65.00 and comes in several brands. The price depends on the number of ports you want on the hub.

INSTALLING YOUR NEW USB HUB

Its always a good practice to backup your files before you work in your computer.Remove the hub from its packing and carefully inspect it for damaged and be sure all components are present. Stop and carefully read the hub manual for instructions such as turn the computer off first or that you must install the software before connecting the hub to the computer.

If you have a powered hub, plug the power cord in an outlet and connect the usb cable from the usb hub into an open USB port. With the hub connected place the cdrom that come with the hub and install the software onto the hard drive.

Set the USB hub in a location where you can easily connect your scanner, modem,or other devices.Remember that your computer only runs at the highest usb speed. If your hub is a USB 2.0 but your computer only supports USB 1.0 then the 1.0 connection will be your max speed.

If your USB hub is self powered, install the card in an empty expansion slot by removing the system unit cover, removing the retaining screw and cover from the slot, firmly slide the card in the slot, and use the retaining screw to secure it to the motherboard.

Start your computer and your operating system should recognize the new device.Install any software that came with the hub.You may need to install a device driver to allow the computer to communicate with the hub.

Its that easy and why not make it something fun to do. Learn as you go and be in the state of mind to enjoy your task. You will look forward to perform other tasks in the same state of mind.

When An Unlucky Break Becomes A Car Breakdown Situation!

Its a lovely sunny weekend in the middle of May and youre off with the family on a day-trip to the coast. Youve got a four year old girl called Jemma and a young son called Carl who is only sixteen months old. So, you make preparations with your wife and set off. The seaside here we come! Jemmas quite happy with her new picture book and Carl sleeps most of the way.

When you get there, Jemma makes her feelings immediately clear: the beach!. So, you buy a couple of buckets and spades, make sure the children have got sun-cream on and head for the beach. What a relaxing time. The kids are busy building sand castles while you sit back and take it all in. A little while later, Jemma spots the donkeys which have just been brought onto the beach, so you take the kids for a donkey ride. They love it!

Some time later you start getting hungry, and the family is ready for a bite to eat. You gather everything, wipe down the children and take a walk into town. You find a little caf with reasonable prices so you park yourselves for a spot of lunch.

After the meal you all have a wonder around town, and as your partner is doing some window shopping you suddenly slip off the causeway edge. You hear a crack and end up on the floor. Thinking the worst, you stay still for a few minutes. You dont feel any pain straight away so, with your wifes help, you gingerly get to your feet and surprisingly you are able to put your weight on your ankle. Well, it seems okay you say, so you carry on walking around. After a while though, the ankle starts to ache and gradually over the next thirty minutes or so, you cant put any weight on it. Its starting to swell as well.

Now you start to worry. It might be broken your wife says. Youre starting to worry about the drive home when someone comes over to help. They call an ambulance for you and youre taken to the local hospital. After having an x-ray on your ankle, the doctor confirms that theres a broken bone and that theres no way youll be able to drive. Your thoughts turn to your family and how you can get home.

What a situation to be in, miles from home with your wife and two children and you as the only driver. Youre an RAC member but youre not sure this constitutes a car breakdown?

Technically its not, but you remember the friendly RAC Face to Face agent pointing out that the RAC will help if the driver becomes too ill or injured to drive, not just in a car breakdown situation.

So, you call the RAC Rescue Centre and explain the situation, to which the friendly lady responds; Fine sir, well get someone to you as soon as possible. Well send a breakdown recovery vehicle straight away. Excellent you say. Thanks very much.

Ten minutes later you get a text message telling you that help is about twenty minutes away. When the vehicle arrives, with your wifes help, you clamber into the cab with the rest of your family. Thirty minutes later your car is loaded onto the breakdown truck and secured. You make it home safely and cant fault the RAC for an excellent days work. What a great service.

Pearls Can Be Both Elegant and Affordable: Your Pearl Jewelry Primer

There are few accessories more elegant than pearl jewelry. Unfortunately, many people think that pearl jewelry is out of their price range, except perhaps for once-in-a-lifetime pearl bridal jewelry. The truth is, a pearl necklace, pearl stud earrings, fashion pearl jewelry, or even a pearl jewelry set can be affordable if you shop wisely. Here are some guidelines so you can know what to look for when you're selecting pearl accessories.

Natural or Cultured?

You've probably heard that some pearls are natural while others are freshwater pearls or cultured pearls. You've probably also heard that natural pearls are created around a grain of sand. In fact, an oyster usually creates a pearl as a result of something like a parasite or other irritant. Only about one in a hundred oysters naturally create a pearl, and of those, only about one in ten are quality pearls.

Cultured pearls are created in the same way - through the introduction of an irritant - but are done so in a controlled environment. As a result, cultured pearls are actually superior in quality to most natural pearls. So, rest assured that cultured pearl jewelry or freshwater pearl jewelry is just as desirable and elegant - if not more so - than natural pearl jewelry.

Grading Pearl Jewelry

Like diamonds, pearls are graded according to the different qualities they possess. Overall, pearls are graded either A, AA, or AAA, with AAA denoting the highest quality. If a pearl falls between the A and AA grades, or the AA and AAA grades, a plus sign (AA+) may also be used.

Pearl Quality

The environment in which pearls are grown affects their quality. A pearl's grade depends upon its luster, shape, and surface appearance. Luster refers to the reflection of light through the outer layers of the pearl. Larger pearls have more layers, and so have greater luster. High luster receives a higher grade than low luster.

Round pearls are the most difficult to grow, and thus are considered more valuable and receive a higher grade than those that are off-round. Although the classic pearl shape is round, fashion pearl jewelry often features unique pearl shapes that are just as beautiful and captivating as round pearls.

The pearl surface is graded according to the numbers and kinds of imperfections on the pearl. A pearl's blemish may appear as a bubble, a line, or a dark spot. Ninety-five percent of the surface of an AAA pearl is free from defects.

When you're shopping for pearl jewelry, keep in mind how pearls are grown and graded, but make your own decision about the qualities are important to you.

How To Catch Him and Keep Him Dating Advice For Women

Hey ladies ever been dumped, had your heart broken or other wise been tramped upon by a man? Of course you have we all have. And we are ALL looking for something just a little bit better (ok, maybe a WHOLE LOT better!) than what we just left. But how can we keep history from repeating itself? How can we start meeting quality men, and then after meeting them, hook them and reel them in for the trophy shot? Well, I have some tips to share with you on that, so put your ears on.

Tired of the Bars and Clubs scene to meet the guys? Me too. So lets expand our view for a moment and think outside the box. Here are some great places to meet guys that do not include loud obnoxious drunks, broken ear drums, and the typical pawing Charlie.

1. Co-Ed sports leagues and fitness clubs! Guys love sports, we know that, and they will totally dig a chick that loves sports too. Or better yet how about a part time JOB at the local club?

2. Shoot pool! (Ok, this may include the obnoxious drunk, so be prepared)

3. Laundromats! Do your laundry on a Friday night or Saturday, its a great ice-breaker, and remember, no granny- panties!

4. Go back to school! Check out the classes that the GUYS usually take like engineering, auto mechanics, etc. If you dont want to join, volunteer to be a class aid.

5. Get a dog and start walking in the park and bring a Frisbee!

6. Go online! There are all kinds of places you can get a free profile (check out http://www.wheretogetthescoop.com for 10 online dating sites that offer free profiles)

7. Crash a wedding

8. Go to graduations at the local college

9. Attend sporting events and football parties at BW3s or your local sports club (goes along w/#1)

10. Home Depot or your local Lowes troll the isles, pretend to need help, or attend a free class on how to tile your bathroom floor!

Ok so you have met him (finally, right?). Now what? Here is where most of us seem to need the help. One of the most important things a woman can do in a relationship to end it right then and there is to lose her cool. And I am not talking about just flipping out and telling him what a worthless turd he is for forgetting your anniversary. I mean the needy Nancy and the paranoid Patty and the Longing Lucy or Clingy Caroline. Lets go over just a couple tips.

Guys want someone who is cucumber cool when they want cool, and tamale hot when they want it hot. The trick is knowing which one they want at which time, right? Exactly. One of the keys to this is following his cues and his body language, and making sure that he understands what you are wanting, looking for and needing, and that YOU understand the same from him. Never ever assume that just because you think you have a relationship, that you do. Lets face it ladies, guys are clueless and we need to accept this. Follow his cues and understand his needs, and give him the space he needs when he needs it. But make sure that YOU get space too, even if you dont think you need it! 

Next (youll like this one) do NOT give him everything he wants!! Dont be a pushover! And by this I do not mean to try to run the relationship like a Nazi. I just mean to be unavailable sometimes, hold that proverbial carrot out there over his head just a little out of reach. If you start out giving him everything he wants, you will have to either a) keep it up or b) end it at some point and he will wonder where his wonderful little slave went. Dont start it!

Ok, that being said, there is a lot more advice out there for women that is geared specifically toward women. Women need dating advice! There is a guy out there named Christian Carter who has developed and entire program based specifically on dating advice for women, as well as relationship advice once you are in it. Christian Carter offers free newsletters, too, so you do not have to pay for some killer dating advice. Go here to check it out : http://www.YouCanGetTheGuy.com.

Life Is Like A Streetcar: You Need To Be Right On Track To Get The Power!

Engineers know it. Streetcars know it. I know it, and in fact, you know it too. If youre not right on track, then you wont be getting any power. You wont feel the energy surge, and you wont feel love, freedom or abundance either. You will feel stuck and empty.

You must be on the right track before you can feel the drive of Universal Energy. Just like a streetcar. Imagine the most beautiful, the most sophisticated streetcar there is, equipped with all the latest technology. In the tracks there is plenty of electricity available, always, ready and willing to pump its invigorating juice into whatever it is connected to.

However beautiful or modern this streetcar may be, as long as it is not aligned with the tracks it wont get any power to go forward. The streetcar remains motionless. Mind you, this static condition is NOT a decision of the energy supply! The power line is NOT saying, Heh, I dont like the looks of this streetcar, I wont give it any energy. The energy is always available, thats not the problem. But you need to know how to tap into it and use it for your own propulsion!

We are all very familiar with the mechanism of power supply. Weve learned how to use electricity when we were kids. We all know that if we dont put the plug into the socket, then the lamp will not produce any light. Were not so stupid that we want the lamp to shine without making contact with the energy source.

Then why are we so stupid when it comes to our own real life? Why do we not connect to the Universal Power Supply when we want to get our juices flowing? We are like the television set that all of the sudden stops working. The repairman comes over only to find that your TV is completely okay, everything is checked and certified and functions properly. Then how come we didnt get a signal? Because the plug fell out of the socket!

How come we are always tired, low on energy, or depressed? Because we are not plugging into the Cosmic Source of Energy! We are like a lamp that tries to shine its light but forgot to plug itself into the power grid. We keep visiting the doctor to look for help, and he keeps saying that everythings fine, its in your head, or its the stress. This basically means, I have no clue whats wrong with you, sir/madam, technically everything is okay. All the while we simply forgot to plug in!

Cheap Auto Insurance Online For Your Teen

So, you have a teen that is at the driving age. Choosing the right auto, the right insurance and the factors that determine price, is the purpose of this article.

Choosing the right auto is very important to getting cheap insurance. That flashy, red, convertible sports car really looks great, but the insurance for it with a teen driver?... ouch!! Find out what your teen can live with other than this and do your insurance shopping with that model in mind.

Some of the factors that enter into price is:

1. Where do you live? In the city, a suburban area or in a rural setting? The rural area will be the lowest rate with the city being greater.

2. How many miles per year will the vehicle be driven and how many miles to work, school or college.

3. The model and age of the vehicle and it's safety record. Sometimes an anti-theft device will lower the rate.

4. The deductable amount and the coverage amount, these vary according to area and what the laws are in your state. The more out of pocket you can afford on the deductable the lower your rate will be.

5. Your teens grades at school is also a determining factor. The higher the grades the lower the rate. Makes sense right?

6. Did your teen take drivers ed? Also a factor.

Make sure that your teen knows the importance of a safe driving record, no tickets, no accidents. Over time, a teen with a safe driving record will have their insurance rates reduced. Instill a sense of responsibility in your teen for their freedom to drive.

Some insurance companies offer a policy for just the teen driver. This way they aren't added to the families policy. This can be a lower rate. There may be some restrictions, such as no driving after dark or others.

Use your favorite search engines to find insurance companies that have the lowest rates for these factors. By shopping online you have a lot of companies to choose from, and it is quicker than the yellow pages.

Keep all of these things in mind when shopping. Insurance rates vary widely, so take your time when doing your research. Another way to search for a good insurance company is to ask around at garages and body shops. Those guys deal with insurance companies every day.

I hope that these factors will help you in finding that company that will give you a good policy at the lowest possible price.

Is Your Bank Overcharging You For Your Overdraft?

Unauthorised overdraft fees. These are three words that worry every bank customer. An unauthorised overdraft fee is the fee charged by a bank when customers go over their overdraft limit.

These fees can be very steep, with some banks charging high premiums for customers who exceed an agreed overdraft limit by as little as a few pence. A recent consumer report suggests that bank customers paid more than 4 billion pounds in unauthorised overdraft fees in 2004.

Scale Of Overdraft Fees

The BBC have reported that the seven major banks charge unauthorised overdraft fees of 25 to 38 pounds. Interest rates on the unauthorised amount can also be high. While some banks charge under 8% interest, others have interest rates that hover around the 30% level.

The banking industry has been slated for this practice by customers who feel they have been treated unfairly. The Office For Fair Trading has also criticised banks for overcharging customers for unauthorised overdrafts. Late payment fees for credit cards have also been criticised. The OFT suggests that late payment fees for credit cards should be no more than 12 and should only cover the administration fee.

Getting A Refund

Consumers who feel they have been overcharged by their banks may be able to receive a refund if they go through a time consuming process.

First of all, consumers can use the Data Protection Act to request details of all charges on their account over the past six years. Next, they need to inform the bank that they intend to sue in County Court to get this money refunded.

Are Unauthorised Overdraft Fees Legal?

There is some question as to the legality of unauthorised overdraft charges. Penalty clauses (such as unauthorised overdraft charges) are illegal under breach of contract law. However, banks do have the right to claim damages from customers who breach their contract with the bank. To avoid going to court every time, most banks write these charges into the contract. They are then able to raise those charges at regular intervals.

The banks see the unauthorised overdraft fee as a fee for services rather than a penalty. This could alter the legal position.

In many cases, it is the people who can least afford it who suffer these overdraft charges. This can become a cycle, with some people having to pay unauthorised overdraft fees month after month.

Help With Your Banking Rights

Consumers who want to find out more about their banking rights should check information from the Bank Action Group, a self-help organisation for banking customers. This organisation can guide consumers through the lengthy process of recovering unauthorised overdraft fees from their bank.

Many organisations say that the banks should make it easier for consumers to see what charges might be applied to their bank accounts. Until they do, consumers should read the fine print as the terms and conditions of each bank account contain information about charge that might apply. Finally, when banks send variations of terms, it is useful to read these to see what new conditions might apply.

Calling Leads is Too Much Work!

Over the last several years a large number of business opportunities have sprung up. Alot of them are telling us we don't need to talk to family or friends or attend meetings. I certainly like that idea. After all who wants to pester family and friends and take time out of your schedule each week to attend the business opportunity meetings these companies put on.

The affiliates in these other companies that are telling us we don't have to do these things are the same ones that are telling us to buy leads and spend several hours per day making phone calls. They usually recommend a lead company to you and tell you "It's a numbers game."

If you have ever called leads in the past then you know how difficult and time consuming it can be. Sure, we don't get the personal rejection from the people we know but it is still a grind. In order to be really successful you need to dial at least 200 phone numbers per day to make any serious money. That of course depends on how much money you make when enrolling someone into the program. Not to mention the cost and quality of the leads your dialing.

I thought that was the only way to build my business. Wake up in the morning, sit down at my desk, and star dialing. I may be my own boss but it's not much fun.

I learned there was another way. A way that you could get quality leads for free and never have to pick-up the telephone to make another phone call. A system that is so automated you don't have to spend anytime explaining the company or comp plan, or even inviting your prospect to a conference call. It took quite a bit of time and meeting many so-called experts in the industry before I found this company and this system.

The Future of Offshore Banking, Corporations and Foundations

First it needs to be stated that no one has a crystal ball which predicts the future. These thoughts are just opinions and should be taken as such not as legal or tax advice. We will try to show the political positions of the countries that are not in favor of the tax haven offshore jurisdictions and the position of the tax haven countries. The countries most outspoken against offshore banking and offshore corporations are Australia, UK and USA.

Today there is a great outcry from these and other countries about the tax saving benefits afforded to citizens of certain countries by going offshore. These countries claim that their constituents are cheating them out of billions of dollars of taxes by going offshore. The offshore jurisdictions that are considered the tax havens say that is a nice allegation but we are not your collection agency and do not ask us to change our bank and corporate privacy laws because your constituents do not want to pay taxes, this is your problem not ours. The actual amount of taxes that are avoided unlawfully is a figure that one can only take a guess at. Many people set up offshore structures to do business outside of their home country and are not in violation of any laws the way they conduct their business affairs. Many people live in other countries and need to own offshore bank accounts, offshore corporations, offshore real estate, etc. Many people use offshore privacy to protect themselves from identity theft, kidnapping, blackmail, and possible extortion.

Let me use an analogy to make a point. In Latin America there is an organization of five states called Mercosur. Mercosur consists of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Venezuela, and Uruguay. Mercosur also has associate members which are as follows: Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Columbia and Ecuador. The Mercosur countries engage in free trade and easy border controls with no passports, just national identity cards for border crossings. Mercosur recently issued a statement that they would in the future strive to resist any further attempts to get them to spend more resources on narcotics enforcement that stems from the UN. The UN says its member countries must enact certain kinds of laws to control narcotics and states these laws and insists on enforcement policies. The Mercosur spokesperson stated that this was an irrational policy since it has not worked for over a quarter of a century and it was severely draining the resources of their countries. Essentially they said they were sick and tired of the United States which is the nation driving these policies through the UN, making their problems, the problems of other countries and they were going to collectively attempt to legalize narcotics in their own nations to free themselves from this heavy burden of narcotics enforcement. This has already begun to happen in Bolivia, Paraguay, Argentina and Venezuela with the abundant legal availability of cocoa leaf. The cocoa leaf has cocaine alkaloids (real cocaine) and is commonly used as a chew like chewing tobacco leaf or made into tea leaves. Street cocaine is perhaps 30 times as potent and is diluted with harmful substances like turpentine, ether, etc. Cocoa leaf is a natural plant product used for centuries as a stimulant by people living in the high altitudes of Bolivia, farm workers etc. One can now see coca tea being sold freely on the internet but I would strongly advice you not to order any because you may get charged with narcotics importation, seriously because it can be lab tested to contain cocaine. So my point is a lot of countries have said ok enough is enough when it comes to narcotics. It is not working leave us alone, take care of your own problem. So Mercosur countries are now worrying about their own problems more and less about the narcotics issues in the USA and other nations. I think you will see more of the same type of thinking when it comes to offshore banking, offshore corporations, offshore foundations, offshore stock brokerage accounts etc.

Offshore jurisdictions have to go through all sorts of compliance that is not needed in say the USA or the UK. One offshore formation agent went to the USA and was able to open eight USA bank accounts in one day. In Panama a bank account can take five days after you collect and submit the reference letters and documents. In the USA and UK no bank reference letters are required to open a bank account, neither are any professional references required. In the USA and UK they do enforce money laundering protective measures strictly. One can buy USA corporations or UK corporations without any of the due diligence requirements that are required from offshore jurisdictions. So the playing field is not exactly level yet these countries are screaming for more controls not on themselves but on other countries. It seems that the offshore jurisdictions will scream enough is enough if any further controls are imposed on them and resist them. Of course one wonders what further controls they could come up with that they havent already imposed.

Lets look at history a little to see how things deteriorated in the past regarding offshore privacy and offshore banking. Most of the older offshore tax havens are also tourist destinations such as Cayman Islands, Nassau, Bermuda, Grenada, Belize etc. These countries usually have little if any natural resources and need to bring in everything they consume. While some of them avoid income taxes instead they impose taxes on goods imported. These countries got heavily involved in tourism as a way to keep their economies moving. A cruise ship docking at these ports usually carries 2500 people. Each person probably spends an average of $100 a day when in this ports buying t-shirts, duty free liquor, tobacco, jewelry etc. many spend a good deal more. That is $250,000 per cruise ship. These jurisdictions get from 3 ships per week, to 40 ships per week docking there. The money from the cruise ships exceeds what would be earned from their previous offshore banking and incorporation activities. Remember a bank that controls hundreds of millions of dollars of deposits can only have 50 or so employees. A thriving cruise ship port can have thousands of employees working in the shops, restaurants, as tour guides, taxi drivers etc. So more jobs are at stake in the tourism business. We also have to take into account the resorts these countries have which create even more jobs and generate revenue in the form of a hotel room tax built into the rates. These countries also charge a head tax on every person coming into their country. Bottom line is there is much more money in the tourism business than there is the offshore business for the government of these jurisdictions. The governments of these countries dont make much off of a bank account for instance, actually nothing. They have no income or capital gains tax. The offshore corporations would pay a few hundred dollars a year in taxes but that was it. The banks would pay a few thousand dollars a year for their licenses. So these countries sold out on offshore privacy to protect their tourism. If they did not do so the countries allowing tax free importation from these countries of tourist bought items might go away. Tourists returning from these countries by ship or air might find themselves stuck in long lines while they are searched and interrogated by authorities of various affected countries which would quickly and seriously discourage tourism to these countries. Other countries like Switzerland, Lichtenstein, and Luxembourg sold out due to pressure from the EU. But now we are seeing a reversal in position regarding the EU, not much of a reversal but at least a sigh of OK enough is enough.

In recent months the USA was exposed by the New York Times Newspaper in a scandal whereby they were monitoring SWIFT wire transactions for some years. SWIFT is a private company that enables banks to communicate with each other securely including sending wire transfers. SWIFT machines require a separate terminal and line so as to make them most secure. The USA served a court order on the SWIFT people in New York to turn over all the data they requested and gag ordered them to not mention what was going on. It went on for two years. This got the EU nations most upset. While they have not actually prosecuted the SWIFT people for violating the banking laws of the various European nations affected, there was serious talk of it. Whether or not obeying a USA court order to violate the banking laws of other nations is a viable defense has never been tested in any court, yet anyway. The EU position on this was they must get the USA to understand their banking laws call for privacy. This of course is not exactly giving ground for more privacy invasive laws which is what we mean by a reversal.

Today the most privacy oriented jurisdiction in the world is Panama. Panama has 400,000 corporations registered there. Panama requires corporation formation agents to be lawyers and their know your client rules are strict and call for criminal penalties if not followed. Panama banks follow tight anti-money laundering laws as well as know your customer laws. Panama does still allow for anonymous bearer share corporations which do not require the entry into any registry of any ownership names or identities. The anonymous bearer share corporations combined with Panama bank secrecy laws make for the best privacy in the world today. Panama foundations are also anonymous with no owners, beneficiaries or protectors names appearing in any registry or database. Panama is also in no tax treaty with any other country and is fairly unique in this regards. Of course one can ask the question if Panama can sustain their practices under pressure from other nations.

First off Panama does follow the FATF (Financial Action Task Force) practices. Secondly Panama does not exactly have a lot of tourism, actually it has quite a small amount of tourism and most of their tourism comes from Latin America not the EU or USA. This means there is no meaningful tourism that can be taken away. Panama is a small country and 15% to 20% of the workforce is employed by the international banks. Panama has 400,000 corporation registered there who each pay $300 in annual corporate taxes. This comes to $120,000,000 dollars and this is for a country of 2.9 million people. Also consider these corporations are paying for resident agents, nominee directors etc. Then we get into Panama Foundations which also collect $300 in annual taxes each year plus nominee council member fees. Panama will and has resisted attempts to compromise banking secrecy and corporate secrecy.

Again let us look towards history to see what we can learn, this time focusing on anonymous bearer share corporations. The issue with anonymous bearer share corporations is that when the international wires are monitored it is impossible to tell who the natural persons are behind the bearer share corporations sending or receiving the wires. The British Virgin Islands used to offer anonymous bearer share corporations. A few years ago they gave in to pressure from the UK and stopped issuing new bearer share corporations but they did make allowances for the existing bearer share corporations to remain anonymous for 10 years. After that time they would need to dissolve or operate in a non-anonymous mode. If we want to look on the dark side we can consider Panama doing the same if international pressure ever built up sufficiently to force a change. So of course those owning an existing bearer share corporation would be unaffected for ten years and these corporations would probably go up significantly in value on the secondary market. We have absolutely no indications subtle or otherwise that anything is going to change in Panama.

It is also a possibility that some other nations may enter into the bank secrecy arena in the near future and some other nations may return to bank secrecy as well. Only time will tell. Nothing we see gives any inkling of an idea that Panama will reverse on its position of bank and corporate privacy and it appears that things may have already sunk to an all time low and offshore banking and corporate privacy may actually soon start to improve, first with the wire transfer system and later on in other areas.

The Only Way to Create Instant Website Traffic? Part 2

Welcome to part 2 of my Google Adwords pay-per-click training article.

As you know by now, pay per click advertising is the only way to bring instant traffic to your website.

Google is very good at taking you through, step by step, the set up procedure that you need before launching your PPC campaign, but there are certain steps you need to take to insure a successful campaign.

Research

This is one of, if not the most important part of your PPC campaign. You need to know,

A. How many marketers are promoting the same product(s) as you.
B. Which keywords generate the most traffic.
C. Which keywords do not work and why.
D.What are the top bid prices for the best keywords.

The first job is to create a keyword list, this next part will explain how to build a free, basic keyword list. Go to Overture's Keyword Selector Tool. http://searchmarketing.yahoo.com/rc/srch/ then click on, keyword selector tool', which is half way down the page on the right side.

In our example today we are going to use mountain bike' as our main keyword search phrase.

Type mountain bike' in the, Get suggestions for:' box.

My results show up as ~ COUNT(the amount of searches last month) followed by the KEYWORD SEARCH TERM, 1. 51280 ~ mountain bike 2. 3906 ~ trek mountain bike 3. 3354 ~ specialized mountain bike 4. 2928 ~ mountain bike review 5. 2853 ~ mountain bike part 6. 2393 ~ rocky mountain bike 7. 2254 ~ mastering mountain bike skill.

This is only a small portion of the actual list, which totals 100 search results.

For this exercise we will chose the top 7 searches, but remember, you need to create a huge keyword list of between 200 and 300. I will show you how to do this in the next lesson.

Under the "count column", you'll see that there are lots of searches for the base term but also that there are focused searches for smaller topics as well. Demand is not too strong, but we know that this is a high value product so we wait till we see bids and competition.

It says there are 51,280 searches for the term "mountain bike" last month. You can multiply that number by 3 to come up with roughly how many times that word was searched for at Google.com.

Next... We'll copy the top 7 keywords in a text file; we will need them for the next step.

Here's the list I've come up with so far:

mountain bike
trek mountain bike
specialized mountain bike
mountain bike review
mountain bike part
rocky mountain bike
mastering mountain bike skill

Now we want to find out what the top bid prices are for these keywords.

That is, how much money is your competition (i.e. other Google Adwords advertisers) are willing to spend on this niche to buy traffic. A high number is a good indicator that your niche is profitable, but on the other hand, if you know for sure that a niche is profitable (like home theater systems, which sell for quite a lot of money), low bid prices can mean that this is a market that is ripe for domination.

One way to check bid prices is to use another Yahoo tool - the view bids tool. Go back to http://searchmarketing.yahoo.com/rc/srch/ and click on the "View Bids Tool" half way down the page on the right hand side.

1.Mountain Bikes, Parts and Much More Shop Performance Bike for mountain bikes, parts and accessories at low prices. Huge selection of bikes from Giant and Jamis and full line of components from Shimano, Crank Brothers and more. www.performancebike.com (Advertiser's Max Bid: $0.34)

2.Find about Mountain Bikes at Smarter.com Compare prices, brands, and more at Smarter.com. www.smarter.com (Advertiser's Max Bid: $0.33)

3.Mountain Bike Closeout Sale 1 day only, save up to 60% off premium MTB. Save over $2000. www.rscycle.com (Advertiser's Max Bid: $0.32)

Above is a search for "mountain bike" - notice that the top bid on Yahoo is under $1.00 - that's pretty cheap considering that a good mountain bike can cost several hundred dollars. Allowing for the cost of the physical product, you can see that this is a very nice, lucrative, under-priced bidding market.

Repeat this process for all your keywords and check the top bid prices for them. You are doing this to estimate how much you will have to pay, per click, to match / top your competition. In this case, you'll see that most of the keywords have a bid price of under $1.00. That's good news, but keep in mind that in AdWords you'll have a bit more competition, so you can expect the top bid price in AdWords to be at least twice that much of Yahoo, and maybe more.

After we do our research, we should have a nice list of targeted, profitable keywords to start our AdWords campaign with. Couple of interesting things you'll notice here: Despite being a reasonably expensive market (top of the range mountain bikes can cost thousands of dollars), there's a low level of competition (bid prices are fairly low). This will allow you to corner the market quite easily, IF you know how to sell to it.

People are as concerned with specific aspects of mountain bikes (off road, stunt bikes) as they are with the "how to" aspect (ride better, faster, perform tricks). This can work to our advantage, as you'll see when we get to writing the ad.

Now that we have our keyword list ready, we're ready to set up our Adwords account. In the next article we'll do exactly that, bye for now.

Canadian Rockies Golf Vacation

A Canadian Rockies golf vacation could very well be the most memorable holiday youll ever take! The Canadian Rockies truly are one of the top natural wonders of the world, internationally renowned for the stunning scenery, the sparklingly clean air, and the quiet of unspoiled wilderness. This is as close as it gets to paradise on earth.

Snow-gilded mountain peaks, gem-like lakes, lush green river valleys and wide blue western skies are almost scenery clichs, but on your Canadian Rockies golf vacation this is reality. Golfers from around the world come to just stand and stare at one of natures crowning achievements. The fact that youll be playing golf in such a fabulous setting is just the icing on the cake. Of course, the numerous world-class golf courses in the area take full advantage of their gorgeous settings.

Verdant fairways weave themselves around glacier-fed streams and towering stands of evergreens, and often the greens themselves are back-dropped by achingly beautiful vistas. If there is a heaven, surely it must look like this! In such circumstances, it can be very difficult to concentrate on your golf game.

There are a wide variety of golf courses to choose from, all of them fabulous in their own unique way. Stanley Thompson, Canadas master golf architect, designed the Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course in 1928. He sensitively incorporated the natural scenic splendour into his design. The course winds along beside the pristine wilderness of the Bow River overlooked by the snow-capped peaks of Sulphur Mountain and Mount Rundle. This amazing course will both challenge and delight you.

SCOREGolf Magazine rates the Jasper Park Lodge Golf Club as the #1 Best Golf Resort in Canada with good reason. Designed in the 1920s by Stanley Thompson, few golf courses in the world can match the rugged majesty of this national treasure. The design features wide fairways carved through thick forest, dramatic bunkering and holes aligned with distant mountain vistas. It presents a cunning blend of beautiful landscapes and challenging terrain.

Of course, a Canadian Rockies golf vacation would be incomplete without luxurious accommodations, fine dining, unique shopping experiences and pampering spas. Fortunately, resorts like Banff and Jasper in the Canadian Rockies have been offering these amenities for well over a century, all in a unique manner. Hedonistic luxury in the heart of spectacular unspoiled wilderness is now a Canadian Rockies tradition.

Understanding Software Copyright Laws

Software copyright laws are among the most difficult to enforce among the masses. Many companies and corporations are well known for overlooking these laws, which were designed to protect the creation of software from not earning their worth. Perhaps one of the biggest hitches why many software businesses go out of business is they have difficulty enforcing software copyright laws and getting money that is owed to them from end users.

Software developers, particularly in the corporate world, design software that makes other companies run more efficiently. The software allows these companies to save millions of dollars each year. Software copyright laws protect the interests of the software developers who create these massive programs. These expensive programs are designed specifically for that one company. The copyright and license agreement often consists of a certain number of users with the company purchasing more licenses or copies of the software during expansions or paying some sort of royalties for the use of the software.

The purchasing companies agree to this and then often fail to honor that agreement. The agreement is what allows this company to use that software. When companies aren't living up to their end of this agreement, they are not only guilty of breaching that agreement, but also of breaking software copyright laws. The trouble always lies in proving they are not honoring the contract and the extent and duration of the breach.

Some ways companies will argue, in defense of not paying the royalties, additional fees, purchasing additional software, etc. is they had upgraded computers and reused the old software (they did actually purchase the rights to use the original software and by doing so feel that they have broken no software copyright laws). The problem lies in the fact that adding ten new computers and placing the software on those should mean you remove it from or get rid of 10 old computers. This is rarely how it works. The truth is they've stolen ten copies of software which can be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Multiply this by 10, 20, or 100 companies doing the same thing and the offending companies are costing software developers millions of dollars in profits. This is when software copyright laws are not as far reaching in their scope as they really need to be.

Software copyright laws exist to protect the software companies from this type of abuse and misuse; however, the hands of the companies are almost unilaterally tied when it comes to proving that software copyright laws have been broken in court.

There are always exceptions to every rule. In this case big business software developers that abuse the software copyright laws make the exceptions rather than consumers who do not pay for the products they are consuming. The big boys are able to do this by offering licenses for their software and claiming that these laws do not apply to their situation because they are not actually selling the software, but only renting out permission for people or companies to use that software. The true irony is that these practices began as a response to the corporate irresponsibility mentioned above. It's amazing the very software copyright laws that were created to protect these companies can't protect their consumers from the greed of the developing companies.

AJAX & SEO - Are They Compatible?

Many travel and holiday websites are now utilizing AJAX. AJAX is not new, but it is developing into a major buzzword in IT departments and at web developers. It's also a potential source of friction between IT/development and marketing.

AJAX is short for Asynchronous JavaScript and XML, a development technique designed to create interactive web applications. AJAX makes web pages faster loading and more responsive by exchanging small amounts of data with the server so that the whole page does not have to be reloaded each time the user requests a change. This is meant to increase the web page's interactivity, speed, and usability. One of the "classic" AJAX applications that most people are familiar with is Google Maps.

There are some major benefits to implementing AJAX on a travel or holiday websites. It can assist in delivering an improved user experience through faster loading, improved page interactivity and enhanced visual presentation. There is also the benefit of reduced bandwidth usage as smaller packets of data are downloaded rather than whole web pages.

However, there is a price to pay for delivering this enhanced user experience. The problem is that search engines can't see your AJAX delivered content or navigation as they are unable to run the Javascript code necessary to generate the HTML content. If the search engines cannot access your content or follow your navigational links you could be seriously restricting your site's exposure in the search engines.

There is no doubt that AJAX is here to stay, at least until something better comes along. It's also likely that the major search engines will become more adept at spidering and indexing AJAX generated content. However, until they do, the simple solution is to avoid using AJAX where it is not needed on your site. If you do intend to use AJAX make sure that your IT department or web developer create real links and HTML content to feed the spiders with.

7 Must Know Tips for Passengers with Disabilities- Part 2

Plan Before You Stand!

When you make your reservation, communicate your needs to the airlines. Make plans ahead of time for items such as: oxygen supply for origin, transfer hubs and destination, a porter to help with luggage, and/or a wheelchair to help you move through the airport with ease and with less stress.

All passengers with disabilities should arrive at the airport a minimum of 2 hours early. You should always ask the airlines for a gate pass at the time of check in. Gate (escort) passes are for relatives, companions, or assistants who are not flying but accompanying the passenger to the gate. A gate pass is subject to the airlines discretion. Place identification tags on all checked baggage, carry-ons, equipment, and mobility aids and devices. Remember that your medical equipment, mobility aids and devices are exempt from the 2 carry-on or checked baggage rule.

Passengers should always consult their doctor for the best method of screening. Passengers with a pace-maker, defibrillator or insulin pump should choose the full-body pat-down. Any metal detector could drain the battery in your medical device. If your doctor tells you that your medical equipment cannot go through the x-ray machine or needs special handling, inform the screener and ask for a visual inspection.

There are alternative ways for a passenger to be screened if they do not want to or cannot walk through the walk-through metal detector. When a passenger with a disability approaches a screener, the screener should always be discreet if the person's disability is discussed and not visible. They should also ask the passenger if they need assistance. The screener should offer all screening methods. They will ask the passenger if he or she prefers to walk through the metal detector, receive a hand-wanding or a full body pat-down. It;s the passenger's choice. You do not need to disclose your medical condition if you choose to take an alternative screening method. If the passenger walks through the metal detector and it alarms, then the screener will conduct secondary screening using a hand-held metal detector or pat-down.

Ask the screener to change their gloves before undergoing a full-body pat-down or hand-wanding. This will eliminate other people's germs from spreading. You may ask to sit before, during, and after the screening process if you need to. If you cannot remove your shoes because of your disability, then don't. Other screening procedures will be performed to clear your shoes through security. Inform the screener of all sensitive areas on your body before undergoing hand-wanding or a pat-down.

At no time during the screening process should a passenger be asked to take off a prosthetic device for screening, nor should a passenger volunteer. Expect an alternative screening procedure, which will include an explosive trace detection test. This will test your prosthetic for explosives and is required by federal law in order for you to proceed to the gate area.

Sometimes screeners need to be able to visually clear a medical device worn on the outside of the body. If this is the case, a private screening should be offered as a requirement by the screener. If this doesn't happen, the passenger should then request it if they want it. There should always be 2 screeners of the same gender as you (one being a lead or supervisor), you and your family member or companion. Ask for a supervisor or manager if there are only 2 of you going into private screening. You should never be separated from your family member, assistant, or companion when going through the screening process, unless dictated by you. Once your family member has been screened they can offer assistance or directions on the best method for screening if you are not able to communicate it to the screener.

Travel with less stress and be flexible with the changes that come your way with airport security.

The 3 Most Commonly Used Fabrics in Designer Clothing

Designer apparel has become extremely popular over the past decade or so. It was always popular but recently we have seen an overwhelming rise in popularity from this industry. To get the best of the best in designer clothing, choose pieces that incorporate these 3 fabrics into your choices:

Silk

Silk has always been associated with luxury and wealth. Theres something about silk that makes you feel important and when you wear an authentic silk piece, your confidence level goes up a couple of levels immediately. Theres just something about the way the silk hugs your body that flatters every curve, regardless of your shape.

Silk is used for a variety of fashion related pieces. It can be used for skirts, dresses, blouses, scarves, pajamas and lingerie. There are a number of manufacturers who have taken full advantage of the benefits of silk. Some of the designers who have been recognized for creating unbelievable silk designs include Prada, Chanel and Roberto Cavalli. These world renowned designers offer only the best of the best when it comes to their designer clothing and their customers are always happy with their purchases.

Purchasing authentic silk items will benefit you in a number of ways. Not only will it look better because the quality is higher than other materials (or materials that are only 50% silk and 50% other materials) but it will also last longer. A true piece of silk is likely to last twice as long as the knock-off materials. In addition, silk is said to be one of the most comfortable clothing fabrics on the market right now. The sleek, luxurious feel of silk on your body will outweigh the cost in a second. Now you can justify paying twice as much.

Satin

Satin, although usually classified in the same category as silk has a few very distinctive features. Silk is made from insect larvae and is made of small, fine threads. Satin is shinier than silk and usually incorporates some kind of silk fabric into it but has a dull back. Silk is shiny on both sides so you feel the silk against your skin. Satin is perfect for those who dont like the glossy finish against their body and prefer something a little softer. Generally, satin is slightly shinier, but for the most part, the two are hard to tell apart just from looking.

Like silk and cashmere, there are many designers who have decided to incorporate satin into their magnificent designs. Some of the most luxurious satin gowns have come from prestigious designers like Versace and Valentino. Unlike silk and cashmere, satin has become a very popular material in shoe design. World renowned footwear designers like Nine West have decided to use silk.

Cashmere

Cashmere is known for its long lasting comfort and unbelievably soft appearance. Its one of those materials that when you see someone wearing it, you just want to touch them because the material looks and feels so incredibly soft. Cashmere is one of the most popular materials in designer clothing because it provides so many benefits. Like silk and satin, cashmere is also long-lasting, comfortable and pleasing to the eye.

There are many designers who have taken full advantage of the popularity of cashmere. Some of the prestigious designers creating cashmere pieces include Kenneth Cole, Michael Kors and Christian Dior. These luxurious designers are definitely the ones to look for if youre shopping for high quality, stylish designer clothing.

The world of fashion can be a little undermining. Designers have clued into which materials are popular among consumers but realize that they cant sell their items for low cost if theyre made from this authentic material. So heres a secret to help you out: Some designers advertise their items as cashmere when in fact they are only partially made of the material. This way, you think youre getting a deal because you cant believe you just bought a cashmere sweater for $29.99. Well let me tell you something nothing good comes for free. Look at the tags on these items and I guarantee you the product isnt 100 percent cashmere.

The Key is in the Counting

What Makes a Piece of Music a "Good Song"?

Most people say that a song is good if it has a good beat. Do you agree?

Why Do You Struggle with Rhythm?

Even if you think that the words, the melody or the harmony (chords) make a piece of music a good song, you probably agree at some level that the beat is often what draws you to a particular song.

So why do rhythm and counting feel like such a struggle?

If you are like most piano students, you simply want to play the tune, recognize the melody and feel the sense of accomplishment that comes from knowing that you played a song that you know.

When you sit at the piano you might think to yourself:
* Find those notes.
* What fingers should I use?
* How does that middle section go?
* Where do I go when it says 'to CODA'?

You may get so confused that you forget why you liked that song in the first place.

But usually it was the beat of the song that grabbed your attention.

Yet, like most things in life, you end up giving all of your attention to your most pressing problems.

As the old adage says: "Art imitates life." If you draw a parallel from your own life to your piano playing, you will quickly understand why the challenge of counting causes you to put keeping the beat on the back burner.

There are simply too many other musical issues vying for your attention!

You Can Have Your Cake and Eat It Too

Are you one of those people who eats the cake first or do you prefer to start with the icing?

Are you a person who can delay your musical gratification until after you establish the beat? Or do you have to listen to yourself play the melody right away?

You can have your cake and play the melody a few times with the right hand alone at first.

But if you want to eat it too, you will need to look at music differently.

Remember hearing one of your favorite songs sung by Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett or Barbra Streisand?

What makes their renditions so special is that they (and other great artists) know how to interpret the melody in their own unique vocal styles. Do you know how they do this?

Frank, Tony, Barbra and others sing so freely because their background ensembles provide them with a great foundation: a GOOD BEAT.

Your Left Hand Is Your "Count Basie Band"

Once you begin seeing your left hand as a solid accompanying ensemble like the Count Basie Band that so often accompanied Sinatra, your piano playing will quickly improve!

You're probably wondering how you can expect 5 fingers of one hand to do the work of 17 professional performing musicians.

But when you look at what having a solid accompaniment does for the great song stylists, you can see how training your left hand to be the "band" can give your right hand the freedom to "sing".

The Secret to Getting Unstuck

If you're like most students, you find that keeping the beat is challenging.

You may often feel like counting restricts rather than frees you as you play a song.

The reason for this is that you are trying to accompany the right hand melody.

You probably often find it hard to fit a left hand umpah or 10th with the right hand melody, and so you get frustrated.

If you want to get unstuck, you will need to turn your thinking around.

Here's the secret to getting unstuck:

Start by giving your attention to learning the left hand accompaniment in strict tempo.

Once you can do this, everything else will fall into place.

7 Ways to Transform Your 5 Fingers into the "Band"

1. Learn the notes to be played by the left hand.
2. Start counting slowly without playing anything
3. Practice the left hand part alone slowly and in strict rhythm (use a metronome if you feel ready)
4. Start playing the song with hands together at a slow tempo several times: focus mainly on one short (2 to 4 measures) section at a time.
5. Use your metronome to gradually increase the tempo
6. Get a sense of being the "band" by using a rhythm unit (drum machine: many of the inexpensive keyboards have wonderful drum sounds)
7. Listen for the right hand melody and make sure that you can always hear it when playing hands together

One Final Note

The next time you listen to one of your favorite artists singing a good song, pay attention to the background. Notice how the solid accompaniment keeps the beat steady, the music flowing and the performer free to express herself.

From now on, give your left hand the long overdue attention that it deserves. Recognize how valuable its role is in creating great music.

Finally, remember that the key to success is in the counting. By starting with the left hand accompaniment and then developing a solid rhythm, you will be well on your way to playing many good songs.

The Power of Expectation

A great majority of people would say wish they had instead of expecting that they will have. This is mainly because we are not taught to be forward-looking. Thus, we do not become future-oriented. We have problems in relationship and we tend to look at our environment, at what we have and with what resources we have at present.

We also have the tendency to get stuck in the past. And worse, many live in the past with past regards. Their common phrase is I wish I had instead of Im glad I did.

This is particularly true in relationships. We wish we had said this or done that to the ones we love such as I have been looking forward to hearing from you.. And our tendency to be limited in our thinking and imagination has, in fact, limited the growth of these relationships. And we tend to focus on our problems in relationship.

The good news is, we can learn to be forward-looking. How do you see your relationship in the future? How do you picture your relationship developing? Is it getting stronger, able to overcome difficulties in life? Do you bond instead of break up in the face of adversities or challenges in life?

A major factor in determining where your relationship will go in the future is basically your attitude on how you look at it in the future. What do you want your relationship to be? Where do you want it to go? Do you want it to mature to a level that you can take anything life throws your way? Do you want to see the relationship develop that you and your partner can just enjoy each other regardless of whatever circumstance you are in?

I remember my experience when I passed a difficult time. I was looking for jobs as I had been part of a plant downsizing activity where some of us managers were given an early retirement package. The basic question that came out is how to survive in the next few months without a regular job. What about the childrens schooling, paying the bills, etc.?

Instead of complaining at the situation, and arguing about the looming financial crisis when the retirement package runs out, my spouse and I bonded, closed ranks and said to ourselves that we will weather this financial crisis and come out with more experience as to how to handle ourselves in crisis.

We expected and believed something better will come our way. And true enough, the crisis made us closer and we even felt invincible that we can overcome any situation, any difficulty as long as we are united as a couple, as a family.

We saw this situation as a learning experience. With a positive attitude, belief in ourselves and faith in God, we found ourselves in a better situation. We overcame potential problems in relationship.

We had pictured a better and stronger relationship in the future. We had seen it in our minds eye. We wanted and expected this kind of a relationship. And we have it. We also continue to treasure our relationship every moment always looking forward to a great life.

Believe in the power of expectation. It works!
